The wasted office space - What do I really need in my office?
When it comes to moving into a new office, finding one that is the ideal size and set-up for your business can help functionality and provide a comfortable and friendly environment for your staff. Selecting the size of your office is important as you must ensure that each staff member has enough space, and that there is a little space for expansion should the time come around. At the same time, that can turn around on you and leave you with a whole range of extra office space should the desired expansion not happen.
Being able to communicate in the office is important and if you are a small business then having a smaller office space where you are able to easily communicate with each of your employees can really add value to your business. On the same note, in a larger business it’s important to have a good structure and your office layout can often help to cement this structure and ensure that it is kept in place at all times.
The office layout
How you layout and design your office can have a large impact on the productivity of your staff and their ability to work well as part of a team. Ensuring that you keep your individual teams together in an area where they can communicate is important for both workplace harmony and seeing that work gets done in a quick and efficient manner. The location of your desks also allows for quick and easy personal communication between your employees which can be a far more practical approach to sending emails around the office.
How important is the kitchen area?
Debating whether your office needs a kitchen area or not can be an important factor, and when it comes to this consideration it is worth taking to note whether or not your staff would have ample access to other food venues nearby. Having an in-house kitchen area could enhance productivity as it could encourage your staff to remain on-site during their lunch break and therefore ensure a higher level of productivity is attained.
If your staff are forced to travel off-site to reach a food outlet then extra time could be lost and this could negatively impact your business in the long term.
What other considerations do I need to make?
Moving office can be a daunting task, but as long as you keep the key ideas of your business at hand, it won’t be hard to ensure that you make the right decisions for your business. Using your space well and making sure that your employees can easily communicate with each other is half the battle and if you can achieve this then you will find that the productivity of your business has the potential to grow as you develop.
