The modern public transport conundrum...

For many of us that live in the city, or simply cannot afford the escalating prices of car insurance, public transport is our one main saviour that allows us to get to work on time. Whether it be a train, tram, bus or any other form of transport, we rely upon this service to get us from a to b almost every day.

Although public transport is one of the main things that we may complain about in a day-to-day conversation, in reality, many people do not realise how much they depend on it to get around and to get to work every day. Yes the train might be late, or the bus may never have arrived – but without it we would have increased congestion on the road and an expensive tax, insurance and petrol bill.

When it comes to considering where to hold a conference or a meeting, it’s important to take into consideration the needs of your employees, and this may be in any case the accessibility of the area by public transport, to allow those without a car to easily reach your destination.

Piccadilly House is a great example of a conference venue with accessibility right around the UK, due to its great location in the centre of Manchester. The venue is located within ample walking distance of Manchester Piccadilly train station, Manchester Shudehill bus interchange, Manchester Metrolink, and even is just a short bus ride away from Manchester International Airport.

Four very different types of transport, all with the same purpose – to allow your conference to be easily accessible to both guests and clients.

In addition, although in a much quieter location, our offices in Burnley also have access to transport links including both rail and bus transport networks. It’s important to consider the accessibility when choosing a venue for your conference, as many of us take for granted the fact that we own a car and that there are many people who are not in the same situation.

The accessibility of a venue is crucial to ensuring that all attendees can arrive on time – there’s nothing worse than holding a conference at a venue where people are constantly walking out during an important discussion or speech. Choosing a venue which is in close reach of public transport allows your attendees to plan their schedule accordingly, without having to deal with traffic issues, helping to alleviate these problems.

So although public transport can be unreliable from time to time, as long as everyone is prepared to leave a little extra to compensate for any problems that may occur, it is definitely an important factor in choosing your next conference venue.
